We are looking for an experienced Administrator – to join our team, providing efficient, accurate and patient-centred administrative support.
This is a busy and varied role where you will play an important part in supporting timely patient access, effective patient flow and the safe delivery of acute assessment services. About the role
As an Administrator – you will provide a broad administrative function within a busy and varied healthcare environment, coordinating and delivering day-to-day administrative processes and services to support the effective operation of the team and wider organisation.
You will:
- Provide timely and reliable administrative support to managers, staff, and teams.
- Prepare and manage correspondence, reports, documents, forms, and other administrative information.
- Manage phone calls, emails, enquiries, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records, databases, registers and filing systems.
- Complete data entry, reporting, document processing and routine administrative checks accurately.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, clinics, events, and related administrative arrangements.
- Monitor deadlines, outstanding actions, follow-ups, and priorities, ensuring work is completed within agreed timeframes.
- Support day-to-day office operations, including supplies, resources, templates, and administrative systems.
- Handle confidential, personal, and sensitive information in accordance with privacy and organisational requirements.
- Follow Health NZ policies, procedures, and relevant compliance requirements.
- Identify and escalate administrative issues, risks, or disruptions appropriately.
- Identify and contribute to improvements in administrative processes, systems, and efficiency.
- Support staff with administrative processes, training, onboarding, and general team requirements.
- Work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, managers, patients, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate initiative, accuracy, reliability, discretion, and a commitment to quality service.
About you
You will be someone who enjoys working in a busy environment and can remain calm, organised and professional when priorities change.
You will bring:
- Relevant administrative or customer service experience.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Experience using computer-based administrative systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational, time management, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- A high standard of written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, or the willingness and ability to develop this knowledge.

It would be an advantage if you have:
- Previous health administration experience.
- Familiarity with a public hospital environment and patient management systems.
- Experience working within a 24/7 or rotating roster.
- An understanding of, and responsiveness to, people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

About the role
The Department of Intensive Care delivers services that include Tertiary Intensive and High Dependency Care, Deteriorating Patient Intensive Care Outreach Service, and the Air Retrieval Service.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Christchurch Hospital is located in the new facility at Waipapa. We have a diverse patient group and provide care for a variety of diagnoses in both adults and children requiring intensive care, including those following cardio thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and trauma.

We are looking for a passionate Ward Clerk to join our ICU Department on a part-time basis. This role will be based at Waipapa in Christchurch. Ideally, we are looking for a candidate that has a strong administration background coupled with great customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
Week 1: Tuesday-Friday (Tuesday-Thursday 1030-1900; Friday 0800-1630)
Week 2: Friday-Sunday 0800-1630
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Meet and greet patients and whānau
- Confidentiality – check with patients and whānau on how they would like their name displayed or not
- Management of phone calls into ward/unit
- Contact person for the ward/ unit and communicate between departments
- Supply and equipment ordering
- Manage patient bookings
- Manage the rostering system
- Process patient information and records

- 5+ years’ experience in a Cardiac Catheter Lab
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Exceptional clinical assessment skills and knowledge
- ECG and Rhythm interpretation desirable
- Competent in IV Cannulation
- Strong Interpersonal skills and building relationships
- Strategic thinking and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration
- Competent user of Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)

Our department has 4 Elekta linear accelerators, a Siemens 64 slice CT scanner and Monaco® treatment planning system. The department provides a gynaecological and prostate HDR brachytherapy service and uses Mosaiq as its patient management system.

We accept direct GP-SARA admission as well as admission from our emergency department, private and rural Hospitals.

We’re looking for a dedicated Head Gardener to bring life and colour to our Milldale village team. You’ll report to the Property Manager and work alongside our Gardener to maintain and enhance our outdoor spaces.
This is a hands-on, varied role that calls for strong organisational skills, a good level of physical fitness, and a genuine love for people and plants. You’ll take pride in creating beautiful environments and enjoy being part of a close-knit community.
Key duties:
Maintain high‑quality gardens, lawns, courtyards and landscapes in line with the village’s Gardening and Landscaping Plan, applying best‑practice horticultural standards and ensuring seasonal and long‑term planning for all green spaces.
Keep buildings, grounds and amenities clean, tidy and welcoming, including managing rubbish removal in accordance with local authority requirements.
Provide a professional, friendly and welcoming presence for residents, families, visitors and staff at all times.
Lead and supervise garden staff and contractors by delegating tasks, training and mentoring team members, and ensuring consistently high horticultural standards.
Monitor and maintain accurate records of resident garden entitlements, manage agreed maintenance arrangements, collaborate with the Property and Village Managers on planning and budgets, and ensure efficient scheduling, irrigation upkeep and maintenance of tools and garden infrastructure.
This is a permanent role working Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm.

You’ll bring experience in gardening or landscaping and a relevant National certificate in horticulture (amenity) Level 4 or above and current Growsafe (standard) certificate.
