This is a 12-month fixed-term Caregiver role covering maternity leave. Full-time, 4 on 2 off roster, mixed AM/PM shifts.
You will naturally be empathetic, kind and patient, and thrive in a role where your compassion and care make a difference to people’s lives.
You’ll bring with you:
- Experience in aged care or a similar role
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships
- Commitment to a rotational roster across morning, afternoon and night shifts
- Ability to work a roster pattern of 4 days on and 2 days off (immediate start)

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for delivering efficient food service to our residents and providing a high level of customer service.
You will support the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager through kitchen and meal preparation including assembling and preparing ingredients, baking, cooking, toasting, and heating food items. You will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen and scullery areas clean, tidy, and safe.

About the Role
The Allied Health Assistant/Kaiatawhai is responsible for providing support to the Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini Allied Health Service in delivering effective, efficient and quality patient focused therapeutic care within the inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
Experience for this role is not essential, however you should be committed to completing your Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Health Assistant) (Level 3) within 24 months of starting.
Specifically, the role is responsible for:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for whānau requiring a coordinated, whānau-centred approach
- Effective liaison with delegating Registered Health Professionals (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Dietetics, Speech Language Therapy) and all other relevant Health Professionals, outside Agencies and others involved in the care of the patients.
- Commitment to flexible & friendly customer
service and patient advocacy.
About the West Coast
Our West Coast Allied Health Team includes Allied Health Assistants/Kaiatawhai, Dietetics, Music Therapy, National Travel Assistance Coordination, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work and Speech Language Therapy. We are based out of Westport, Greymouth and Hokitika and deliver assessment and intervention within inpatient, outpatient and community settings covering the West Coast from Karamea to Haast.
About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential:
- New Zealand Working Rights
- NCEA level 1-2 or equivalent (required passes in English and Math)
- Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Health Assistant) (Level 3) (or to be completed within 24 months of commencement)
- Intermediate user in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- A current full NZ drivers’ licence
- Excellent communication – listening, verbal and written
- Proven ability maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Proven ability to work autonomously as well as within a team
- Be able to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Commitment to ongoing self-development and Allied Health service development
Desirable:
- Experience working within the New Zealand Health system
- Experience working in rural community
- Experience working in an Interdisciplinary team
- Experience in customer care / service
- Knowledge of all relevant legislation and standards

About the Role
As the Service Manager, Front of House, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a portfolio of critical services that support hospital flow, operations and communication across Canterbury and the West Coast.
Reporting to the General Manager, Commercial Services, you will lead and oversee the business operations of Sterile Sciences, Orderlies, Contact Centre, Mail Services, Inter-hospital Shuttle, and Staff and Patient Travel. You will work closely with senior operational and clinical stakeholders to ensure these services are safe, efficient, responsive and sustainable, while aligning resources and performance with organisational priorities.
This is a significant leadership opportunity and you will play a key role in financial management, workforce and service planning, quality and risk management, continuous improvement and organisational change.
A key component of the role is also the oversight of local contract management. You will act as the District subject matter expert for a number of local and national service level agreements, working with procurement, contracted providers and internal stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with agreed requirements.

About the Team / Service
Commercial Services provides a range of essential services that enable the effective operation of our hospital and wider health system.
The Front of House portfolio encompasses a diverse group of services that are integral to hospital operations and patient experience, including Sterile Sciences, Orderlies, Contact Centre, Mail Services, Inter-hospital Shuttle, and Staff and Patient Travel.
Working across Canterbury and the West Coast, you will build strong relationships with clinical and operational leaders, corporate functions, unions, professional bodies and external service providers to deliver sustainable outcomes for our communities.
About You
You will be an experienced senior people and operational leader who is comfortable working in a complex healthcare environment and able to balance strategic thinking with strong operational delivery.
You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline, together with a strong understanding of hospital operations
- At least eight years' people leadership experience and five years' experience leading complex operations within a hospital or healthcare setting
- Proven experience leading organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Sound financial management and budgeting experience
- The ability to work collaboratively with clinical colleagues and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong judgement, planning and accountability, with the ability to deliver results in a complex environment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, patient safety, quality improvement, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Experience in workforce planning and management, a healthcare background in nursing or allied health, and/or a postgraduate management qualification would be advantageous.

- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or an equivalent specialist qualification.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to culturally safe practice and improving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
Further training in Psychiatry of Old Age is preferred, but we can also provide training if candidates wish to work towards their RANZCP POA Certificate during their employment.

About the role
As an Administrator – Front of House, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of Front of House and the AAU.
You will:
- Support timely, safe and efficient patient flow between Front of House, the AAU and the wider hospital.
- Welcome and assist patients, whānau and visitors, providing a professional, respectful and patient-focused service.
- Complete patient registrations, admissions, discharges and referrals accurately and within required timeframes.
- Respond promptly to patients, whānau, visitors and clinical requests while managing competing priorities.
- Recognise when patients appear acutely unwell or infirm and promptly refer them to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate patient demographic, NHI, ACC, referral, location, status and discharge information within relevant patient management systems.
- Ensure patient records, labels and other required information are available to clinical teams in a timely manner.
- Handle sensitive information in accordance with privacy, confidentiality and Health New Zealand requirements.
- Follow downtime and contingency processes when systems or services are unavailable.
