About the role | Mō te tūnga
The Clinical Manager Nutrition & Dietetics - Christchurch Campus is accountable for the professional leadership, cultural competence, business, and operational management of the Nutrition & Dietetics Service at Te Whatu Ora – Waitaha Canterbury. They are responsible for fostering excellence in practice standards and professional conduct and to provide assurance of the clinical safety of our Nutrition & Dietetic workforce.
In partnership with the Director of Allied Health, clinical managers and the Nutrition & Dietetic team, the Clinical Manager Nutrition & Dietetics - Christchurch Campus is accountable for developing, providing and monitoring a quality cost-effective clinical service which meets the accountability requirements of clinical staff, financial targets, service providers and the overall strategic direction of Te Whatu Ora – Waitaha Canterbury, to maximise quality outcomes for patients and their whanau.

We are
looking for an experienced, effective leader to provide clinical leadership,
oversight and management of the performance of our Nutrition & Dietetics
Service and to drive productivity and continuous improvement in the quality-of-service
delivery, to our patients and their whanau. You will safeguard high standards
of care by creating an environment in which excellence and innovation in
clinical care will succeed; you will achieve this through fostering excellence
in practice standards and professional conduct and by identifying opportunities
for change to clinical pathways and models of care.
Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the relevant profession.
- NZ Registration with the relevant professional body.
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate with the relevant professional body.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical work experience in the relevant field of specialty and environment, and in-depth knowledge of the NZ Health and Disability sector and issues affecting tāngata whaiora and equality of healthcare.
- Minimum 3 years senior leadership experience at a management level.
- Knowledge of change management and Quality Improvement methodology supplemented by experience leading change, projects, as well as practice and quality improvement initiatives across the service.
- Knowledge in financial management and experience in effective budget management.
- Experience with clinical teaching/supervision, training and staff development.
- Experience making judgements in complex situations and being a proactive problem solver.
- Post-graduate diploma (leadership or clinical), or certificate with evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to complete post graduate diploma within the role.
- Knowledge of NZ Health & Disability sector standards and the Privacy Act within a health context.

About the role
The West Adult Community Psychiatric Service has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with mental health experience to join their community team. West Sector provides an assessment and treatment service for tāngata whaiora (consumers) experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whānau (family) - both in the community and alongside inpatient services.
About You
We are looking for a professional and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. To be successful in our team you will need to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multi-disciplinary team, you will work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care and services to Whaiora, their friends and whānau. Interacting with a variety of stakeholders, you will have an ability to effectively manage and prioritise Occupational Therapy assessments, formulations and interventions in the community.
- You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with our tāngata whaiora and their family/whanau, primary care, community supports and our inpatient teams.
- It is essential that you have the ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritise tāngata whaiora’s needs appropriately, and in a timely manner.
- You will work alongside tāngata whaiora who you will proactively engage with and support to engage with their treatment and other holistic supports.
- Highly developed risk assessment is important, as is your ability to develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally u.nwell or distressed.
- A key aspect of this role is the assessment and formulation of occupational therapy interventions, you will then take responsibility for undertaking these interventions alongside Whaiora.
- Liaising with whānau and other carers, NGOs, police, probation and other services is all part of this community-based role.
- There is an expectation that you will initiate, develop and provide group-based interventions for Whaiora.
- A minimum of 2 year’ experience in a mental health setting is preferable;
- New Zealand Registration as an Allied Health Professional with Annual Practicing certificate is essential

About You
This is an opportunity to work with skilled and motivated team of multidisciplinary professionals. - The Case Management portion of the role will consist of the oversight and management of a varying case portfolio;
