About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to provide visible and values-based leadership across Specialist Mental Health & Addictions Services in the Central West Coast locality.

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and business management of the service, while contributing to wider West Coast service planning and strategic development. About the Role

This Advanced Speech Language Therapist role will provide evidence-informed and culturally safe practice across our Older Persons Mental Health Community Team, with a focus on assessment and management of older adults with mental illness and/or cognitive disorders. The team provides comprehensive assessment of the mental health of older people, whilst aiming to optimise the person’s level of functioning, offering specialist treatment, care, support and education.

In this predominantly clinical role, you will implement a variety of service delivery methods including; group therapy, virtual care, outpatient clinics and home visits as clinically indicated. While based administratively at Princess Margaret Hospital, this position provides care to the community across the Canterbury region.

Using your extensive clinical skills and knowledge, you will work alongside operational and clinical leaders to support the continuous improvement of the Community Speech-Language Therapy Service. This includes clinical pathway development in associated clinical areas of specialty, creation of robust evidenced based clinical and teaching resources, and participating / translating current research into local clinical practice. Developing opportunities to maximise the skills of our unregistered workforce is also a focus.

About You

CAF provides specialist mental health assessment and treatment for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau across Waitaha Canterbury. The Christchurch Psychiatric registrar training programme is integrated with Mental Health services here and includes placements in child and adolescent psychiatry. Most of the Consultant Psychiatrists are also Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturers and have access to University resources, including research resources. We also take an active part in training the next generation of psychiatrists, doctors and nurses through lectures, clinical supervision, and support.
