About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Anaesthetic Technician/ODP/RNAA to join our dedicated team working across a wide array of sub-specialties we offer. This unmissable role will give you the opportunity to work to deepen your clinical expertise in the biggest department in the South Island.

They say variety is the spice of life – At Health New Zealand, Waitaha, we work across multiple sites (Christchurch Campus - Public, Women’s, Waipapa, Burwood Hospital, and Hillmorton Hospital) which means no two days are the same. From obstetrics to trauma to ECT to paediatrics, and everything in between; we are an acute and planned care centre that offers it all. Christchurch Campus is situated in the city next to our beautiful Hagley Park; in spring you can walk under the blossoms. If your shift is at Burwood Hospital, you’ll be able to head down to New Brighton Beach for an after-work swim or cruise around Bottle Lake Forrest.

As an accredited training hospital, we recognise the importance of investing in our staff and offer a multitude of opportunities for both the professional development of our qualified team and for our future workforce. We support the new perioperative practice degree and the registered nurse anaesthetic assistant (RNAA) training programmes; whether you like to teach or to learn, it is all on offer.

But what really makes a good day at work, besides variety, challenge and top -quality facilities/equipment?... It’s the people! We are a varied team, made up of Registered Anaesthetic Technicians, Operating Department Practitioner’s (ODP's), Registered Nurse Assistant to the Anaesthetist (RNAA’s) and locum/agency staff, from a vast range of backgrounds. We are very proud of our evolution as a team and emphasise our shared values at every opportunity (being professionalism, caring, collaboration and resilience). It is important to us that we continue to build our team with people who display these values in every action.

So… if you want to join a team of highly skilled, innovative, and caring people and move forward with us on our journey, what are you waiting for? Send a pigeon, light a flare, hire a billboard or simply apply online today. We look forward to welcoming you on board!

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide professional, technical and clinical assistance to Anaesthetists
  • Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients
  • Anticipate problems and exceptional patient care
